On the 50th Anniversary of the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, Alphonse Fletcher, Jr. announced a $50 million initiative in support of institutions and individuals working to further the goals of this landmark decision. Read more .

On May 23, 2007, Alphonse Fletcher Jr., Chairman and CEO of Fletcher Asset Management, Inc announced the selection of the third Fellows. Each of the Fletcher Fellows will receive a stipend of $50,000. (Read more.)

As part of the initiative, copies of African American Lives, a compendium of more than 600 biographical entries edited by Professors Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham was donated in conjunction with Oxford University Press to all of the more than 5,000 public school libraries in the 14 largest cities in the United States. Further, the initiative will fund scholarships at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
